Harry Kewell, Spurs on

HARRY KEWELL on the face of it, seems another victim of the traditional summer rumour mill.

Though there could be truth in the story as Spurs are looking to sign Kewell as a second left sided midfielder. At the moment Atletico Madrid star Martin Petrov seems to be the favourite to secure the Spurs posistion. Though because of Tottenham's lack of numbers on the left side, Martin Jol is now expected to sign two left sided midfielders.

He is often regarded within the austrialian media as "Australia's finest football export", despite his career being blighted with injury. His senior playing career has seen him play for Leeds United and Liverpool FC. He has represented Australia a total number of 23 times, scoring 7 times. Take a look at some of Harry Kewell's best playing moments below -

Harry Kewell's availability with Liverpool is still in question though a figure of £3 million has surfaced.

If Kewell and Petrov where to sign for Spurs it would be doubtful Kewell would be starting often. Aston Villa are also interested in Kewell, which is a place Kewell may possibly get more starts, making in my opinion Aston Villa to sign him.

Feel free to discuss. What do you think?

Wesley Sneijder - To be or not to be?

WESLEY SNEIJDER is the versatile playmaker for Ajax Amsterdam. Although aged at only 22 he has been a Ajax first team member for the last five years. Raised through the Ajax youth system, Sneijder now enjoys a posistion in the Dutch national team. He has had 126 appearances with 43 goals with Ajax and 33 appearances for his national side, scoring a total of 6 times.

Although only standing at 5ft 7in, he has proven himself to have great ball control and has the added skill of being two footed. Below is a video of Sneijder in action -

Now it seems the time has come that Sneijder will be leaving Ajax Amsterdam. Sneijder has commented,"The only way to break with Ajax is by kicking up a riot. But that's not who I am." He also added, "This is the moment for a transfer," and, "I have been playing in the first team at Ajax for five years. And Ajax doesn't want to let me walk out for free in two years' time?"

Sneijder is not only linked to Tottenham as Villa are also interested. Valencia despite interested have had two bids rejected and now look as though they have backed off there interest. The amount of money Sneijder would cost Tottenham is currently unknown to me, though as soon as I find out it will be updated.

With relation to how he would fit into the Spurs team, I believe he would be ideal behind the front two. With his and Lennon's pace it will give Tottenham extra momentum to feed Berbatov and co. What do you think?

Figo move looking likely

Reports of Tottenham Hotspur signing LUIS FIGO have picked up even more momentum. Previously we had reported Luis Figo's desire to play for Spurs though now it seems Tottenham have now decided they would like to sign him.

Figo will sign for tottenham on a free transfer from Inter Milan though the contract he will expect will be in excess of £60,000 per a week. It is believed Bolton Wanderers and Newcastle United are also interested in signing the star however, Figo would prefer a move to Spurs. This transfer speculation comes after Figo failed to secure a £6 million move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad last week.

Figo aged at 34 is certainly past his best though, do you believe he will perform or just become a gapping hole in our wage budget?

Petrov wants Spurs move

Countering previous reports, the Daily Mail is now reporting Petrov would welcome a move to White Hart Lane.

Dimitar Berbatov hopes Tottenham will sign Bulgaria international team-mate Martin petrov from Atletico Madrid.

Spurs are seeking to increase their options on the left side of their midfield and have been linked with the 28-year-old Petrov for the last 18 months.

They are also interested in Blackburn winger Morten Gamst Pedersen and were narrowly beaten by Manchester United for Sporting Lisbon starlet Nani.

"I bought a newspaper and saw the rumours linking Martin Petrov with Tottenham," said Berbatov said, who scored twice for Bulgaria in their Euro 2008 qualifier victory against Belarus at the weekend.

"I am pleased to see this but these things will be decided on a much higher level than me and him. It is always a good thing to have a compatriot with you but for the moment things remain as they were before.

"Is there are real chances of him joining us at Spurs? Nothing is impossible in football nowadays. We will see."

Petrov has also admitted he would love to move to the white half of North London and revealed: "Tottenham are showing interest in me and I do not hide this.

"I can tell you that they are not the only club which has shown interest but as I say this is only interest and observations.

"There are no concrete talks or offers. I am very happy with this as every good player is pleased when he attracts interest from such big and strong clubs.

"There have been speculations linking me with Tottenham since last year," he continued. "I am still playing in the number 17 shirt for Atletico and nobody has called me with a transfer offer.

"The day before yesterday I had a meeting with my agent and he did not mention anything. If there was something he would have told me.

"For the moment I do not think about any transfers. I have four extremely important games until the end of the season two with Bulgaria and two with Atletico. I will think after this if there is anything concrete."

Be sure to check out Petrov and tell us your opinion

Spurs exit

One thing I haven't quite worked out yet is why no squad players have yet been sold to free up a little more cash to our impressive pot anyway. I know thee are Euro qualifiers going on, but players like Murphy, Ziegler, Mido etc have been linked away from the club for long periods now.

Maybe Jol just wants to wait and see who is available before off-loading, but I personally would like our business done early to improve our chances of breaking the top four next season. Just look at Man United three 'big name' players in already and £45M spent along with it.

Should we be doing the same?

Younis Kaboul or Curtis Davies

Younis Kaboul the young French centre back who spurs have been strongly linked too still hasn't signed for Totteham Hotspur. A few weeks back it was expected Spurs would sign the young Frenchman as soon as the French season had finished though still today he has not been signed.

After West Bromwich Albion failed to gain promotion, the availability of Curtis Davies is now in question. Curtis Davies has been a long term target for Jol and he maybe be bought rather than Kaboul.

After all West Brom know he won't want to stay with them for another season in second tier of English football, when he could be developing with a bigger club in the Premiership. Kaboul's price tag was rumoured around £8M while Davies may now be able to be snapped up a little cheaper as Albion didn't get promoted. Which player would you prefer?

Huddlestone leaving

Tom Huddlestone is the subject of interest from Reading manager Steve Coppell according to reports over the weekend.

The News of the World claims Reading boss Coppell is weighing up a move for the talented youngster affectionately nicknamed "Hoddle-stone" by the Spurs faithful for his potential likeness to the Spurs legend.

Spurs boss Martin Jol will weigh up whether or not he believes Huddlestone can live up to his potential after a patchy season in the Premiership before deciding whether to sell or not. Should Spurs keep him as he is a considerable talent or shall we let him grow somewhere else. Feel free to discuss it.

Possible Chimbonda replacement

THE SUN are reporting that Tottenham Hotspur will turn to Jose Bosingwa if Pascal Chimbonda does complete a move to Chelsea.

Spurs have already rejected a £10million bid for Chimbonda from Jose Mourinho and it's expected that Chelsea will return with an improved offer.

Spurs currently seem unlikely to sell Chimbonda, though the player had previously demanded a move to Tottenham Hotspur from Wigan and if he demands a move to Chelsea from Spurs it will be hard for Tottenham to keep hold of him.
Bosingwa earned his first cap for Portugal on Saturday in the 2-1 win against Belgium and would be available on a free transfer from Porto.

Tottenham bid for Bent - £8 million

Charlton Athletic are furious with Tottenham's opening offer of £8 million for striker Darren Bent.

The Daily Mail says Spurs manager Martin Jol is determined to sign the England international, but the club are a long way short of the Charlton's £15m valuation.

West Ham, Newcastle and Liverpool are also interested in the 23-year-old, but Spurs are in a strong position as Bent indicated that he is only interested in a move to White Hart Lane.

Charlton believe they are using Bent's desire to try to achieve a cut-price deal and the tactic has not gone down well with chiefs at The Valley.

Below is a video of Darren Bent. Unfortunately the goals where for Charlton, though you must remember they are probably the last goals he will ever score for them -

Support Spurs Petition Here

The London Underground is a vital transport link for White Hart Lane. Currently Tottenham Hotspur want to extend White Hart Lane though the council are worried by the added transit through the area that an extension will bring. The main issue for the council is they are doubtful there is enough added transit capacity that would be able to handle an extension.

The petition is asking the government to take steps to ensure extra transit capacity is provided via the London Underground for Tottenham Hotspur. This is a crucial for the area around White Hart Lane and the future of our great club and the legacy that we leave to future generations. The current London Underground provisions for White Hart Lane are totally unacceptable. The fact is an extension for the London Underground has been overdue for decades and now it is crucial we the people take action for what is our right and fair.

Figo seeking Spurs

LUIS FIGO is seeking a move to Spurs. His pedigree, I am sure needs no introduction though it must be remembered that aged at 34 he is a veteran player.

This transfer rumour may be like most the transfer rumour mill surrounding Tottenham Hotspur, though Figo has only 1 year left on his contract with Inter Milan, so there might be some fact based within. The transfer itself (if it is true) is likely to be a free transfer and reports suggest Figo's agent has been discussing the possible transfer with Spurs officials for the last 24 hours. It is believed Figo is seeking a £60,000 per week two year contract.

The rumour is further strengthened as friend of Figo recently said (1-2 days ago): "Luis has always had a soft spot for Spurs and would love to live in London. He has seen other stars go to the capital and settle with their families."

Figo himself is eager to ply his trade in the English Premiership and both Bolton and Newcastle are also interested in the player though he has said: "The door is open in Milan again and I am very grateful."I could stay for one more season, but there are other opportunities. I could even retire."

Recently Figo had been discussing a possible £6 million contract which would have seen Figo playing for the Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad. The deal although had fallen through.

Petrov dampens down Spurs switch

Atletico Madrid winger Martin Petrov has played down speculation that he is to make a move to Tottenham this summer.

He said: "I can tell you that they are not the only club which has shown interest but as I say this is only interest and observations.

"There has been speculation linking me with Tottenham since last year but I am still playing in the number 17 shirt for Atletico and nobody has called me with a transfer offer."

Smith staying at Man U

THE SUNDAY MIRROR are reporting that Alan Smith will be offered a new deal at Manchester United by Christmas.

The former Leeds United striker has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur and following the arrival of Nani and Anderson, it was thought that Smith's days at Old Trafford could be numbered.

The £7million rated Smith has two years to run on his existing deal and is keen to stay with the Premiership champions after rejecting several loan possibilities during the January transfer window.

Though personally I would love to see him at Spurs next season, so hopefully we still got a chance to sign him. Below is a video of Smith before his injury, enjoy -

Spurs reject Chimbonda offer

Tottenham boss Martin Jol is believed to have turned down a £10million bid from London rivals Chelsea for right-back Pascal Chimbonda.

Blues chief Jose Mourinho has already been busy in the market since the end of the season, snapping up Steve Sidwell and Claudio Pizarro on free transfers.

And he is now trying to bolster his right-back options, as neither Geremi not Paulo Ferreira impressed in the role last season.

Glen Johnson, who was lured to Stamford Bridge by former boss Claudio Ranieri, spent the season on loan at Portsmouth and does not feature in Mourinho's long-term plans.

So the Portuguese coach approached Spurs in a bid to sign Chimbonda, but was swiftly knocked back, according to the News of the World.

Dutchman Jol only recruited the flamboyant Frenchman from Wigan for £5million last summer, and having landed Gareth Bale from Southampton now has his first-choice full-backs in place.

Mourinho is also a big fan of Manchester City's Micah Richards but knows he would cost more than Chimbonda and is aware he no longer has a blank cheque-book due to a frosty relationship with Blues owner Roman Abramovich.

Spurs revive Matuidi interest

Tottenham have revived their interest in Troyes midfielder Blaise Matuidi.

The 20 year-old attacker plans to leave Troyes this summer following their relegation and Spurs chief Damien Comolli admitted last week his admiration for the youngster.

French sources yesterday stated that Spurs are now reviving their interest in Matuidi, who would favour a move to London over rival interest from French giants Marseille and PSG.

Bent wants Spurs switch

THE NEWS OF THE WORLD is reporting that Darren Bent is set to snub a move to West Ham United in favour of joining Tottenham Hotspur.

The Charlton Athletic striker is said to be keen to forge a partnership with Dimitar Berbatov and could move to White Hart Lane in a deal worth £10million, whilst the Hammers have offered £9million and a bumper £60,000 a week contract.

Bent admitted to a pal: "West Ham have offered me incredible money but I'm convinced Berbatov is staying at Spurs and I'd love to play alongside him. "I believe we could form a great partnership."

Berb fully focused on Spurs

Dimitar Berbatov says he is fully focused on winning silverware with Tottenham next season, further quelling speculation he could leave.

Berbatov has been linked with a move to Manchester United after an impressive first season in the Premiership, but the player has always insisted he is happy at White Hart Lane.

Skysports.com recently revealed Berbatov is open to signing a new deal with the club, and he insists his only concern now is helping Spurs to win trophies.

"I want to win something with Tottenham - and I think we can," he said on the club's official end-of-season DVD, 'Goals Galore'.

"I want the team to play good football, with enjoyment, and entertain the fans.

"From the first moment at Spurs, the fans have been behind me.

"The only thing I can do to say how grateful I am is to play well and score goals."

Hungarian 'Wonder Kid'

ROLAND VARGA is the 17 year old Hungarian wonder kid who has recently had trials with Tottenham Hotspur. He is being tracked by clubs like Manchester United, and before his trial with Spurs he had trial spells at Hearts, Reading and Espanyol.

Verga is currently contracted with MTK Budapest though his playing style is likened to Cristiano Ronaldo which has attracted the attention of Sir Alex Ferguson who is believed to be considering purchasing the 17 year old striker.

On the speculation Varga's agent, Nandor Bognar has told obudaisport.hu, "We'd be happy if Manchester United wanted to sign him, but they haven't shown interest in Roland so far."

It is unknown whether Spurs are also considering an approach for Varga though it will all pivot on whether Jol was impressed with him during the young striker’s trial. Tottenham Hotspur may end up being the more attractive option for the young striker because of the possibility for him to partner his fellow compatriot (the great) Berbatov.
